Women's Basketball Opens Season Against SUNO Sunday

LAKE CHARLS—McNeese women's basketball will kick off their final season at Burton Coliseum by playing five of their first six games at home. The home opener against Southern-New Orleans is Sunday afternoon. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. The Cowgirls will be available following the game to autograph team posters.

McNeese will travel to Texas on Wednesday before returning home to host LSU-A (Nov. 19), Grambling (Nov. 22), UL-Monroe (Nov. 26) and Tulane (Nov. 29).

The Cowgirls, under the direction of second year head coach Kacie Cryer, posted a 14-17 record last year and earned a trip to the Southland Conference Tournament in her first year as a Division I head coach. Cryer returns six letter winners who have a lot of playing experience returning including two starters and three players who spend the season as redshirts due to injuries.

McNeese is coming off a 72-43 exhibition win over Wiley College last Tuesday. Seniors Dede Sheppard and Keara Hudnall led the Cowgirls in scoring with 16 and 13 points, respectively.

At all Cowgirl home games this season, a fan will have an opportunity to make a half court shot for a $200 gift card to Boreing Vision.
