Volleyball Hosts Southeastern La. On Senior Day

LAKE CHARLES--  McNeese volleyball will host Southeastern Louisiana in its home finale at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Gym on Senior Day. Seniors Adison Giambrone, Rae Myers and Jenney D'Alessandro will be honored following the match.

McNeese (17-11, 8-5 SLC) enters the match in fourth place in the league standings and controls its own Southland Conference Tournament fate. A win over the Lions assures McNeese a tournament spot.

If Texas A&M-Corpus Christi defeats Incarnate Word on Saturday, the Cowgirls would clinch a spot regardless of the McNeese-Southeastern La. outcome. Southeastern La. enters the match with a 3-24 overall record and 1-12 in league place.

The Cowgirls are coming off a straight set win over New Orleans on Thursday that helped them move one step closer to clinching a spot. McNeese has won five of its last six matches including its last three to make a push for a tournament bid.

McNeese continues to be led by a sophomore Shanna Spree who ranks fifth in the conference with a .327 hitting percent. Spree leads the team with 36 service aces, 99 blocks and ranks second in kills with 264. Fellow sophomores Keegan Nelms and Angela McGownd also lead the team in respective categories. Nelms has a team high 269 kills and is second on the team with 328 digs. McGownd leads the conference with 555 digs while Giambrone has a team best 555 assists.

Southeastern La. is coming off its first conference win of the season with a four set road win at Nicholls on Thursday. The Lions are lead in kills by Savannah Alcazar who has 218 on the season.
