LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's basketball will be looking to pick up its first road win of the season Monday night in a 6:30 p.m. game at Louisiana Tech.
La. Tech leads the all-time series 19-7, including a 12-1 record in games played in Ruston. The Cowgirls defeated La. Tech 74-71 at the Thomas Assembly Center two years ago while La. Tech won last year's meeting in Lake Charles 66-56.
The Cowgirls (4-5) will play only their fourth road contest this season but two of their three road games have been at teams ranked in the Top 10.
Most recently, McNeese fell 95-34 at no. 6 Baylor five days ago. The Cowgirls lost 100-34 at then no. 2 Texas in its first road game of the season on Nov. 15. In between those two game, McNeese fell 98-86 in triple overtime at UL-Lafayette on Dec. 3.
Monday's game will be the second of four straight road games for the Cowgirls that runs into the Southland Conference opener at Incarnate Word on Dec. 28.
Seniors Keara Hudnall and Dede Sheppard will lead McNeese into Thomas Assembly Center as the Cowgirls' top scorers. Hudnall leads the team with 12.3 ppg. and Sheppard is averaging 10.8 ppg.
Three Cowgirls are averaging over six rebounds per game with seniors Mercedes Rogers and Jasmyn Carswell leading the way with 6.3 per game. Freshman Bre'Ashlee is right behind with 6.1 per game.
The Lady Techsters (6-4) have won back-to-back games after a three-game losing skid, including wins over Little Rock (58-49) and UL-Monroe (71-49).
Alexus Malone leads La. Tech with 12.8 ppg and is grabbing 8.2 rpg. as well as shooting 53 percent from the field. Kierra Anthony is also averaging in double figures with 12.4 ppg. Taylor Stahly leads the team with 9.4 rpg.
