CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Coming off perhaps its most depressing loss of the season after losing a 20-point lead with less than 12 minutes to play against Houston Baptist, McNeese will try to put that game behind it as it visits Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Saturday afternoon at 1:30 hanging onto the slimmest of hopes in making the Southland Conference postseason tournament.
The game will air live on the McNeese Radio Network (1470/1290 AM) and on ESPN3.
McNeese (7-19, 4-11 SLC) must win its remaining three games while needing both Nicholls and Central Arkansas to lose its games in order to have a chance at the postseason.
"We're going to go out and play hard and play these last three games the best we can and try to end on a high note," said head coach
Dave Simmons. "If we do that, then we know we at least gave ourselves a chance."
The Cowboys played a magnificent game against Houston Baptist on Thursday night for the first 30 minutes behind the sharp shooting of freshman
Kalob Ledoux who, for the second straight game, scored a career-high after netting 22 points against the Huskies.
Ledoux continues to make a run as the league's Freshman of the Year with his play as he's climbed to second on the team in scoring with 11.2 points per game.
McNeese will be looking to snap a six-game losing streak to the Islanders who beat the Cowboys 73-66 two weeks ago in Lake Charles. The Cowboys have not won in Corpus Christi since Jan. 5, 2012.
The Islanders (17-9, 10-5 SLC) have won eight straight games and are in the hunt for a double bye in the postseason tournament.
