LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's basketball ended the regular season with an 83-67 loss to Lamar Saturday but will continue its season next week at the Southland Conference Tournament in Katy, Texas as the sixth seed. The Cowgirls will face 7
th seed Nicholls at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 9 at the Merrell Center.

The first three round games can be seen on ESPN3 while the championship game will be at 12 p.m. on CBS Sports Network. All Cowgirl games can be heard on the McNeese Radio Network (1470/1290)

Tickets for the tournament can be purchased at the ticket office at the Jack Doland Fieldhouse beginning at 8 a.m. Monday morning. Tickets will be sold there until 5 p.m. Wednesday. A McNeese representative will also be on hand on game days and McNeese fans are asked to purchase tickets at the McNeese ticket booth at the Merrell Center. General admission is $15 per session. McNeese students get in free with a valid McNeese ID.

Lamar (22-6, 15-3 SLC) earned the no. 2 seed and a double bye with the win. The Cardinals opened the game by scoring the first 12 points and the Cowgirls struggled to make its shots as they trailed 26-8 after the first quarter.

McNeese (13-16, 8-10 SLC) trailed by as many as 26 (36-10) early in the second quarter but went on a 19-2 the rest of the way to go into the half, trailing by nine (38-29).

The Cowgirls continued to cut into the Lamar lead in the third quarter and got as close as five points (38-33) on a
Caitlin Davis layup. The Cardinals put together another scoring run to get its led back up to double digits on two free throws by Kiara Desamours. Lamar held a 67-48 lead after the third period.

After Lamar opened the fourth quarter with a three-pointer to take a 20-point lead, McNeese made a run and scored the next nine points to cut the lead to 11 with just over five minutes to play.

Lamar continued to press McNeese full-court and caused the Cowgirls to turn the ball over as the Cardinals went on to pick up their second win over McNeese this season.

Senior
Victoria Rachal led McNeese with 19 points while junior
Mercedes Rogers was the only other Cowgirl to score in double figures, ending the game with 12. Junior
Frederica Haywood led all players with a game high 18 points.

Lamar had five players score in double figures, led by Moe Kinard's game high 23. Chastadie Barrs had 13, Ashlan Miles scored 11, Kiandra Bowers and Kyla Green both had 10 apiece.Â
