SAN MARCOS, Texas—Texas State scored five unanswered runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to come from behind to defeat McNeese 5-4 here Wednesday in a non-conference softball contest.
The loss drops the Cowgirls to 30-15 overall while Texas State improves to 32-10 on the season.
Both teams used one inning apiece to score their runs with McNeese taking a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning on four hits and one Bobcat error.
Justyce McClain led the inning off with a bunt single. Piancastelli singled through the left side with one out before both players scored on a double down the left field line by
Morgan Catron to take a 2-0 lead.

Carleigh Chaumont, she was replaced by Quincy Charleston. Schmidt would give McNeese 4-0 lead after scoring on an error.
Texas State had a chance to get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth and the sixth but Flores got out of a bases loaded jam in the fifth and got out of another jam with two runners on in the sixth.
Flores gave up a lead off single to Davis in the top of the seventh that started the Bobcat comeback. A triple by Bailee Carter scored Haleigh Davis before
Rachel Smith replaced Flores in the circle. Smith hit the first batter she faced, got Christina McDowell to fly out to center for the first out. Ariel Ortiz drew a walk before a RBI fielder's choice scored another run to cut the Cowgirl lead to 4-3. After Smith issued another walk, Corrina Liscano hit a walk off double down the left field line for the 5-4 Texas State win.
McClain led the McNeese with two of the five Cowgirl hits. Texas State ended the game with eight hits with Liscano and Carter picking up two apiece.
Charleston improved to 6-1 on the year with the win in relief. She gave up one hit in 3 1/3 innings with one walk and four strikeouts. Rupp, the starter gave up four runs on four hits with six strikeouts and one walk in 3 2/3 innings.
Smith fell to 12-7 on the year with the loss after giving up three earned runs, two walks and one hit in 2/3 innings. Flores gave up two runs on seven hits, one walk and struck out three in six innings.
McNeese will return home this weekend to host Lamar in a Southland Conference series that will start a seven game home stand. A single game is set for 6 p.m. Friday with a doubleheader set for 4 p.m. Saturday.
