LAKE CHARLES – Head coach Drew Fitzgerald and the Cowgirls arrived in Colorado on Wednesday in preparation for Friday's match up against the Falcons of the US Air Force Academy.  The match will begin at 7:05PM MT. McNeese opted to move up its travel plans and arrive in Colorado a couple of days ahead of schedule, "Because of campus closures and all the rain due to [hurricane] Harvey, we have not had much time to train or get ready for Air force so we are approaching it as an opportunity to focus on our own play against what we know will be a fit, talented opponent," Fitzgerald said.

The Cowgirls are coming off a road win against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns after their home game was moved to Lafayette because of the impending rainy weather brought on by Hurricane Harvey. The storm also forced McNeese to cancel its travels to San Marcos on Sunday (Aug 27), when they were slated to play Texas State. Freshman forward Havana Johnson netted her second and third goals of the season in the 2-0 shutout, while classmate Emma Roccaforte recorded her second shutout of the season.

Air Force is also entering today's match with a win under their belt, after hosting Eastern Washington on Sunday (Aug 27) and claiming victory over the Eagles 3-1. Three different Falcons were able to score during the game, their first coming as early as 61 seconds into regulation.

McNeese and Air Force have only met once before in the series, back in 2007 in Colorado. After double overtime, the score was still at zeros for both teams and left in the record books as a tie. The Falcons had 24 shots, to the Cowgirls' nine, but it was not enough to overcome the Cowgirl defense.
