LAKE CHARLES - The McNeese women's soccer team will open up its 20^th season of conference play this Friday, September 15 when they host the Southeastern University Lady Lions at home, kick off slated for 7:00PM.
 
Head coach Drew Fitzgerald and his crew will be entering the match 4-2-1, after claiming a pair of wins the previous weekend. The Cowgirls defeated both Southern and Prairie View A&M in 4-0 shutouts. With these shutouts, the McNeese defense has allowed an average of .29 goals per game by its opponents.  Currently, the Cowgirls have outscore their opponents 11-2, taking 55 shots on goal compared to the opposing teams' 37 shots on goal.
 
Southeastern will take to the road with a 2-4-1 overall mark. The Lady Lions most recently hosted the University of Louisiana at Monroe, which resulted in a 1-1 draw after double overtime. Southeastern gave up 12 Warhawk shots, compared to the Cowgirls who allowed ULM only two shots during their match up on August 20.
 
The series between McNeese and Southeastern dates back to 1996, leans in favor of the Lady Lions, who have taken 20 of the 32 matches. This will be the 16^th home match for the Cowgirls against Southeastern, as McNeese looks to claim its 8^th win in the series.
 
Last seasons match up resulted in a 1-3 defeat for the Cowgirls. Southeastern struck first, scoring only 16 minutes into regulation, but senior forward Kayla Goedicke was able to tie the game just after halftime with the assist from her classmate Savannah LaRicci.  Southeastern rallied in the final 25 minutes, knocking two in and taking home the victory.
