LAKE CHARLES – The Cowgirls will wrap up their 2,454 mile road trip with a stop at the University of Wyoming, where they will face Wyoming at 1:00PM (CT) on Sunday.
Head coach
Drew Fitzgerald and his crew will be traveling to Laramie after a 0-1 loss in Colorado at Air Force on Friday. "Wyoming will present a new challenge for us, they will definitely come prepared to compete." Sunday will be the first time the teams have met.
Wyoming is entering the match 2-2, the same record as McNeese. On Friday (September 1), they hosted the University of Texas El Paso and defeated the miners 3-1. All four goals during the match occurred in the first period, while both teams received two yellow cards each in the second period.
McNeese's loss at Air Force is only the second time the two teams have met. The Falcons were able to eliminate the chance of freshman goalkeeper
Emma Roccaforte recording her third consecutive shutout of her career when they shot one into the top of the net over Roccaforte's head in the 33rd minute. McNeese was able to get 10 shots off during the match, but only two of them were on goal- both of which the Air Force defense and goalkeeping unit was able to block.
Sunday's match is free admission, while the athletic staff at Wyoming will be collecting donations for the Red Cross for those effected by Hurricane Harvey.
