LAKE CHARLES-- McNeese volleyball will be put to the test this week when the Cowgirls will play its first three Southland Conference road matches within a six day period beginning with a 7 p.m. match at Abilene Christian. The Cowgirls will continue its road trip to San Antonio, Texas for a 7 p.m. match at Incarnate Word Thursday before concluding with a 1 p.m. match at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Saturday.
McNeese (9-7, 1-1 SLC) will head into the week ranked tied for fifth in the league standings after the first week of conference play last week.
Abilene Christian (4-9, 0-1 SLC) dropped its SLC opener to Sam Houston State on Saturday. Incarnate Word (2-7, 1-1 SLC) will face Texas A&M-CC (5-8, 2-0 SLC) on Tuesday before Thursday's match against McNeese.
Sophomore
Shanna Spree continues to lead McNeese with 155 kills for an average of 2.67 kills per set. Spree also leads the Cowgirls with 22 service aces. Sophomore
Angela McGownd leads the league and ranks 7
th in the nation with 337 digs. McGownd is averaging 5.52 digs per set.
Setters
Adison Giambrone and
Alexandra Aguilera are splitting time at that position. Giambrone leads the team with 309 assists for an average of 5.07 per set while Aguilera has 265 on the season and is averaging 4.91 per set.
Senior
Jenny D'Alessandro is tops on the team with 53 blocks. D'Alessandro has 43 block assists to her credit and 10 block solos.
