LAKE CHARLES—McNeese volleyball will conclude its three-match Texas road swing with a 1 p.m. Saturday match at league leading Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Streaming will be free and the link can be found on the mcneesesports.com.
McNeese (11-7, 3-1 SLC) will enter the match tied for fourth place in the standings along with Houston Baptist heading into Saturday's match. The Islanders (7-8, 4-0 SLC) are atop the standings ahead of Sam Houston State (3-0 SLC) and Stephen F. Austin (2-0 SLC).
The Cowgirls are coming off two 3-1 road victories this week against Abilene Christian on Tuesday and Incarnate Word on Thursday.
Saturday's match will pit two of the top four teams with the best hitting percent in conference play. The Islanders are second in the league with a .254 hitting percent while the Cowgirls are fourth with a .246 percent. McNeese is also second in the league in conference play with 233 digs for an average of 16.64 per set.
Sophomore
Shanna Spree continues to pace the Cowgirls with 170 kills for an average of 2.58 per set. Spree also ranks fourth in the league with a .375 hitting percent in conference matches. Spree also leads the team with 25 service aces.
Jenny D'Alessandro had 60 blocks to her credit including 16 in conference matches, which ranks her eighth.
Angela McGownd had a team best 379 digs for an average of 5.49 per set. The Cowgirl duo setters of
Adison Giambrone and
Alexandra Aguilera have dished out 355 and 299 assists, respectively.
