Cowboys Set for Road Match Against Houston Baptist

LAKE CHARLES – After a confidence boosting win over Southeastern last week, the McNeese men's basketball team is back on the road- this time headed west to Houston. The Cowboys and Houston Baptist Huskies match up on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Sharp Gym.

Houston Baptist (4-15, 0-6) is hosting McNeese (6-10, 3-3) after falling to Southeastern at home, 85-69.

The loss was the eighth in a row for the Huskies, who will be looking for their first win since mid-December.

Against Southeastern, Houston Baptist was only down by one point at the half, but found themselves outscored 46-31 in the second half, and unable to overcome the powerful Lions.

19 game starting guard Ian Dubose, led the Huskies in scoring with 17 points in the defeat. Dubose is averaging 13.2 points per game, with 15 double-digit scoring performances.

Houston Baptist is known for its abilities on the glass, outrebounding Southland opponents 91-66 in offensive rebounds. On the opposite end, McNeese is only one of two SLC teams averaging less than 10 offensive rebounds per game (7.8 rpg).

Josh Ibarra is leading the Huskies with 16 points per game, but the senior center has not played since early December due to a foot injury he endured against UTSA.

The Cowboys are firing on all cylinders at this point in the season, looking to add another to the win column on Saturday, pushing them over .500 in conference play.

Quatarrius Wilson is performing well in game after game, pulling down double-digit rebounds consistently. In fact, Wilson leads the Southland with eight 10 or more rebound performances.

Wilson also earned his sixth double-double in the win over the Lions. Wilson was one of three Cowboys with double-digit points, joined by Kalob Ledoux with a team high 19 points and 10 points from Jarren Greenwood.

Ledoux is leading the Cowboys with 13.5 points per game, seven straight double-digit scoring games. Ledoux is ranked fourth in the Southland for scoring in conference games only.

The Huskies have claimed victory in the previous four meetings, with the Cowboys on the prowl for their first win against Houston Baptist since March of 2014. Despite losing the last four, McNeese still owns the series, 14-6 overall.
