LAKE CHARLES—After a week off to fine tune things, McNeese women's basketball returns to the court this Saturday, January 20 with a road contest at Houston Baptist. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at Sharp Gym.

McNeese (7-10, 3-3 SLC) will play its second of six straight road games, a place where the Cowgirls hold a 2-0 record in conference play.
 
The Cowgirls opened the SLC slate with a 66-57 win at Incarnate Word on Dec. 30 and are coming off a 77-65 win at Southeastern Louisiana last Saturday.
 
Sophomore guard Caitlin Davis will lead McNeese into the contest averaging 11.2 ppg., 5.7 assists per game and 1.4 steals per game.
 
Senior Dede Sheppard is also averaging in double figures with 10.1 ppg. while three Cowgirls are averaging more than six rebounds per game.
 
Senior Mercedes Rogers leads the trio with 7.1 rpg. and is four rebounds away from moving into sixth place in McNeese career rebound history. Freshman Bre'Ashlee Jones is pulling down 6.9 per game and senior Jasmyn Carswell is averaging 6.4 per contest. Carswell also leads the team with a 51.7 field goal percent while freshman Regan Bolton has a team best 87.5 free throw percent.
 
As a team, the Cowgirls rank 21^st in the nation in rebounds with 43.5 per game and rank 6^th in the nation in offensive rebounds with 17.0 per game. McNeese enters the game ranked in the Top 5 in SLC games in scoring offense, free throw percent, rebounding offense, rebounding defense, rebounding margin, assists, assists/turnover ratio, offensive rebounds and defensive rebounds.
 
Houston Baptist (5-11, 1-5 SLC) is coming off a 76-61 home loss to Southeastern La. on Wednesday. The Huskies are led in scoring by Amanda Johnson's 16.3 ppg. while Veronika Kirienko leads the team with 5.5 rpg.
