Cowgirls Look To Bounce Back Against Sam Houston State On Wednesday

LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's basketball will look to bounce back from its first conference road loss of the season at Lamar last Saturday when the Cowgirls travel to Huntsville, Texas Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. game against Houston Baptist. The game will be streamed on ESPN3 and can be heard on the McNeese Radio Network (Cajun Radio 1470/1290 AM).
 
McNeese (8-11, 4-4 SLC) is led in scoring by sophomore Catlin Davis (11.3 ppg.) and senior Dede Sheppard (10.4 ppg.) Davis also leads the team and ranks third in the league with 5.8 assists per game.
 
Despite being outrebounded by a slim margin in the last two games, the Cowgirls continue to lead the conference in rebounds with 45.2 per game.
 
Mercedes Rogers leads the team with 7.2 rpg. while freshman Bre'Ashlee Jones and senior Jasmyn Carswell are averaging over six per game. Jones is pulling down 6.6 per game while Carswell is grabbing 6.4 per game.
 
Sam Houston State (4-14, 1-8 SLC) has lost 11 of their last 12 games including a 75-53 road loss at Stephen F. Austin on Saturday. The game will be the LadyKats' first home game since facing Houston Baptist on Jan. 13. Their only conference win was a 57-52 road win at Southeastern La. last Wednesday.
 
Jennifer Oramas leads the LadyKats in scoring (11.4 ppg.) and Lydia Baxter leads the team with 6.7 rpg.
