Cowgirls Look To Get Back On Track Against UNO Saturday

LAKE CHARLES--  McNeese women's basketball will look to get off to a quicker offensive start than its previous game against Abilene Christian on Wednesday when the Cowgirls host New Orleans at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6 at Burton Coliseum.
 
At every Cowgirl conference home game- fans will have the chance to win a $200 Boreing Vision gift card and $240 in cash prizes, courtesy of Universal Coin. Those who would like to participate in the halftime challenges should visit the marketing table at courtside to sign up for a chance to play.
 
McNeese (6-8, 2-1 SLC) got off to one of its worst shooting nights of the season against the Wildcats on Wednesday but turned things around in the second half and erased an 18 point deficit and nearly picked up the win.
 
For the third straight conference game, McNeese has had at least three players score in double figures. Heading into Saturday's game, sophomore Caitlin Davis leads the Cowgirls with 11.6 ppg., 5.9 apg., and is tied for a team high 1.4 spg. Davis leads the SLC with 6.3 apg. in conference action. Senior Keara Hudnall is also averaging in double figures with 10.6 ppg. Freshman Bre'Ashlee Jones leads the team with 6.5 rpg. and also has 1.4 apg.
 
As a team, the Cowgirls lead the league in rebounds in conference games, averaging 43.0 per game and 21.3 offensive rebounds per game.
 
UNO (5-9, 1-2 SLC) comes in with the league's top scorer in senior Randi Brown. Brown is averaging 23.0 ppg. overall and 26.7 ppg. in league games. Shania Woods is averaging 10.9 ppg. and leads the Privateers with 7.6 rpg.
