Cowboys Travel to Thibodaux on Wednesday

LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese men's basketball team will start a four game road trek on Wednesday, as it heads to Thibodaux for a mid-week match-up with the Colonels. It is the first of two times that McNeese and Nicholls will play this season.

The Cowboys will be looking for their first road win of the season, and their first since February of last year.

McNeese is coming off a devastating overtime loss to first place conference foe, New Orleans on Saturday.

The 82-75 loss was the second straight in conference play for McNeese, after starting the season at 2-0 amongst SLC opponents.

Junior guard, Jarren Greenwood led the scoring attack for the second game in a row- posting 22 points in the contest. Greenwood was followed by James Harvey and Kalob Ledoux who scored 17 and 14 respectively.

Greenwood is the fourth Cowboy, joining Kalob Ledoux, Quatarrius Wilson, and Stephen Ugochukwu, to sink 20 or more points in a contest this year, already double the output from last year's season.

Nicholls is hosting the Cowboys after a key conference win against rebounding powerhouse Houston Baptist. The Colonels defeated the Huskies 72-71, after HBU missed it's opportunity to tie the game with a free-throw in the final seconds.

Senior Colonel guard, Roddy Peters is averaging 18.1 points for Nicholls and scored 24 in the win over Houston Baptist.

Overall, Nicholls is outscoring opponents by seven points, but struggle under the basket with a negative rebounding margin through seventeen games.

The Cowboys are averaging 40.7 rebounds per game, with Wilson at the helm, still pulling down a conference best 9.0 rebounds per game.

The last time the Cowboys and Colonels played, Nicholls defeated McNeese 78-74.

McNeese outscored Nicholls 43-36 in the second half, but was unable to overcome an 11 points halftime deficit, falling the the Colonels on the road.

Current Cowboys Harvey, Greenwood, and Ugochukwu each scored in the double-digits, despite the team finishing only 9-22 from beyond the arc.

The series between the two teams still weighs heavily in favor of the Cowboys, who have taken home 51 wins in the 88 games played. McNeese has won four of the last ten meetings, but has lost five of six on the road.
