LAKE CHARLES—McNeese volleyball fell 3-1 (25-17, 20-25, 17-25, 23-25) here Saturday morning to Central Arkansas (20-5, 10-2 SLC) in a Southland Conference match.
McNeese (7-20, 5-7 SLC) came out aggressive and took the opening set 25-17 behind solid play at the net and on deense.
The Cowgirls stayed close in the next three sets and had their chance throughout the rest of the match but couldn't find an answer or UCA Samantha Anderson who ended with a match high kills and a .395 hitting percent. Savanah Allen and Kellen Dunn joined Anderson in double figure kills with both players picking up 12 apiece.
McNeese was led in kills by Kateyln Elliott's 14.
Keegan Nelms ended the match with 12. Nelms led the Cowgirls with 15 digs to pick up her sixth double double this season. Setter
Caitlin Sharrock also recorded a double double with a match high 40 assists and 13 digs. The double double is also Sharrock's sixth of the season.
Angela McGownd also ended the day with 11 digs.
Paige Havel led all players with seven blocks on the day.
McNeese will remain home and will host Lamar at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
