Cowgirls Back at Home Against Nicholls

LAKE CHARLES- The McNeese soccer squad continues Southland Conference play when it hosts Nicholls on Friday night at Cowgirl Field.

Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be available via live stream on mcneesesports.com.

McNeese (8-4-1, 2-1-1 SLC) heads in to the match with the reigning Player of the Week in Havana Johnson, who had two goals and one assist in two stellar outings last weekend.

Johnson powered the Cowgirls to a 1-0-1 record in the weekend while keeping their conference championship hopes alive.

The McNeese soccer team has not lost a match since a 2-1 loss to Southeastern Louisiana on September 14 in Hammond.

The Cowgirls are currently in the top five in nine different statistical categories in the conference ranking second in shots, assists, and corners; third in points, goals, goals allowed average, and shutouts; and fifth in goals allowed and saves.

Nicholls (2-9, 0-4 SLC) is coming off a weekend in which it dropped back-to-back home games to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and conference leader Houston Baptist. The Colonels are currently winless in conference play so far this year and have dropped four straight matches.

This will be a one game road trip for the Colonels before they return home for three straight games.

The Cowgirls have beaten Nicholls in 12 of the last 14 matches and are currently on a four-game win streak against the Colonels.

The Colonels last beat the Cowgirls in 2014 when they faced them in the first round of the SLC Tournament and got revenge on a McNeese squad that beat them earlier in the year.
