LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's basketball will travel to Thibodaux Wednesday to face Nicholls in its final regular season road contest. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. at Stopher Gym. Livestats will be provided with links found on mcneesesports.com.
McNeese (11-14, 7-7 SLC), who enters the game tied for seventh place with the Colonels, will look to snap a two game losing streak and avenge a 61-54 home loss to Nicholls on Jan. 10. The Cowgirls, who lead the conference in rebounds (42.2) are coming off an 84-62 road loss at UNO last Saturday.
Sophomore Caitlin Davis is coming off a career high 23 points against the Privateers and she leads McNeese in scoring (12.0 ppg.), 3-pt. field goal percent (30.5), assists (5.8) and steals (11.1). Senior Dede Sheppard is second on the team in scoring with 10.4 ppg. Senior Mercedes Rogers leads the Cowgirls with 7.2 rpg. and freshman Bre'Ashlee Jones is averaging 6.9 per game.
Nicholls (12-13, 7-7 SLC), has won four of its last five games and are coming off a 60-42 road loss at Central Arkansas last Saturday.
Junior Cassidy Barrios and sophomore Tykeria Williams are both averaging double figures with 16.0 ppg. and 13.0 ppg., respectively. Barrios also leads the Colonels with 9.2 rpg.
Following Wednesday's game, the Cowgirls will return home to close out the regular season by hosting Houston Baptist this Saturday, Feb. 24, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi next Wednesday, Feb. 28 and Lamar on Saturday, March 3 in the regular season finale.
