Women's Basketball Still In Hunt For SLC Tournament Berth

LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's basketball is still in the hunt for the eighth and final spot in next week's Southland Conference Tournament with two regular season games.

McNeese 11-16, 7-9 SLC is currently tied with Southeastern Louisiana for the final spot and should both teams end the regular season with the same conference record, McNeese would earn the 8th seed due to the tiebreaker rule. McNeese defeated the Lady Lions twice this season, giving the Cowgirls the tiebreaker.

The Cowgirls will look to snap a four game losing streak when they will host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (17-10, 10-6 SLC) for the first time this season on Wednesday, February 28. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. at Burton Coliseum.

McNeese is coming off a 67-61 overtime home loss at the hands of Houston Baptist that saw the Cowgirls playing with a depleted squad due to an injury and an illness.

Sophomore Caitlin Davis and senior Dede Sheppard continue to lead the Cowgirls in scoring with 12.2 ppg., and 10.3 ppg. Sheppard is coming off her first career double double against HBU with 10 points and a career high 12 rebounds.
