Box Score 2 HOUSTON, Texas— McNeese failed to get into the win column this weekend during its final regular season tournament at the Rice Adidas Invitational II, falling 3-0 (15-25, 23-25, 17-25) to Ole Miss and 3-0 (17-25, 19-25, 14-25) to Rice.
After dropping the first set to the Rebels in the opening match, the second set was close throughout the set and included 12 ties and two lead changes.
With McNeese trailing 24-21,
Paige Havel put down two kills to bring McNeese to within one 24-23, but a kill by Ole Miss' Emily Stroup gave the Rebels the second set win.
McNeese (1-12) trailed by as much as six points in set three but moved to within two points (18-16) on an Elliott kill. Ole Miss went on a 7-1 run to close out the third set with for a 25-17 set win.
Elliott, who was named to the all-tournament team, tied her season high with 14 kills and
Caitlin Sharrock recorded her second double-double of the season with 30 assists and 10 digs to lead McNeese in the loss against Ole Miss.
Keegan Nelms and Havel led the Cowgirls with eight kills against Rice. Havel also led the team with five blocks. Sharrock was credited with 25 assists and
Alexandra Aguilera led with nine digs.
