That drought nearly came to an end on Friday night, but even though the Cowgirls didn't get the Southland Conference victory, it wasn't a loss either as the Cowgirls kept their conference title hopes alive after tying the Ladyjacks 1-1 in double overtime.

The tie moved the Cowgirls to 1-1-1 in league play, 7-4-1 overall, while SFA's record moved to 3-4-2 overall and 1-1-2 in the conference.

McNeese had a chance to win the game with a minute to play in the second overtime period, but
Rachel Palet's shot on goal was saved by SFA goal keeper Allyson Halliday to help secure the tie.

The Ladyjacks came out and took control of the game early with a goal in the 15
th minute by Mari Gillespie to make it a 1-0 game, a score that would stand until the 66
th minute when the Cowgirls got a game-tying goal by
Havana Johnson, her fourth of the season, to knot things up 1-1.

The goal was assisted by
Anna Watson, her team leading fourth assist on the year which also ties her atop the SLC ranking in the category.

McNeese outshot SFA 15-7 in the game and had a 7-3 shots-on-goal advantage including the only shot-on-goal in either of the two overtime periods.

The Cowgirls will be back in action on Sunday at 1 when they visit Sam Houston State.
