LAKE CHARLES—Coming off its first Southland Conference and first road win of the season at Nicholls on Wednesday, McNeese women's basketball returns to the Health and Human Performance Complex Saturday to host Southeastern Louisiana to begin a six-game home stand that will run through Feb. 13. Saturday's game has an 11 a.m. start.
McNeese (3-13, 1-4 SLC) will look to build on Wednesday's win that saw the Cowgirls leave Thibodaux with a 69-68 win behind solid defense and toughness and more importantly- McNeese limited their turnovers in a game that was back and forth the whole game.
The Cowgirls will enter the game averaging 61.6 ppg and 43.2 rebounds per game, ranking second in the SLC in offensive rebounds (16.4) and third in defensive rebounds (26.8) per game.
Southeastern La. (7-8, 2-2 SLC) is coming off a 94-54 road loss at Lamar on Wednesday. The Lady Lions are averaging 56.1 ppg. and 33.7 rpg.
The league's top two three-point shooters will be showcased on Saturday with the Cowgirls'
Regan Bolton and SE La.'s Celica Sterling.
Both players enter the game having made 45 treys this season. Sterling is shooting 41.3 percent from behind the arc while Bolton is shooting 36.3 percent from three-point land.
Bolton, who moved into 10
th place in McNeese career three-pointers after making a career high seven against Nicholls is averaging 6.5 per game in her last two games. She made six at New Orleans last Saturday.
Callie Maddox continues to lead McNeese in scoring (12.6 pp.). Bolton is averaging 11.3 ppg. and
Bre'Ashlee Jones is averaging 10.0 ppg.
Damilola Balogun leads the team with 7.6 rebounds per game and is coming off her second career double double with a 12-points and 13 rebs.
Sterling is the only Lady Lions averaging in double figures (15.9 ppg.) while Caitlyn Williams leads the team with 6.5 rpg.
It will be the 67
th overall meeting between the two teams with McNeese leading the series 36-30 and have won the last four meetings.
