WBB: Cowgirls Host Houston Baptist Saturday on ESPN+

LAKE CHARLES—After a week off and coming off their second straight Southland Conference win, McNeese women's basketball returns to the Health and Human Performance Complex this Saturday, Jan. 26 to host Houston Baptist in a nationally televised game on ESPN+ beginning at 1 p.m.
 
McNeese (4-13, 2-4 SLC) will continue its six-game home stand with its second straight home contest after being in the road for the previous four. The Cowgirls are coming off a 62-56 win over Southeastern Louisiana last Saturday that saw redshirt freshman Callie Maddox record her first career double double with a career high 29 points and a career high 10 rebounds. Sophomore Bre'Ashlee Jones picked up her first double double of the season with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
 
Maddox, Regan Bolton, and Jones are all averaging in double figures heading into the game. Maddox leads the team with 13.5 ppg. and 13.7 ppg. in league play. Bolton is averaging 11.1 ppg. overall and 12.0 ppg. in conference games while Jones is averaging 10.1 ppg. overall and 11.0 ppg. conference games.
 
As a team, McNeese ranks second in the SLC in offensive rebounds in conference games only with 16.0 per game.
 
The Cowgirls are averaging 61.6 ppg. and 44.0 rpg. overall and 64.7 ppg. and 42.8 rpg. in conference games.
 
Junior Damilola Balogun leads the squad with 7.4 rpg. and ranks fourth in the league with 8.8 per SLC game. Jones is averaging 7.0 rpg. in league play.
 
The Huskies (6-10, 1-5 SLC) have lost their last four games and are coming off a 73-65 road loss at SE La. on Wednesday.
 
Amanda Johnson and Megan Valdez-Crader are the HBU scoring leaders with 12.9 ppg., and 11.0 ppg., respectively.
 
Taylor Kollmorgan leads the Huskies with 6.6 rpg.
 
As a team, HBU leads the conference in blocks with 5.06 per game and have four players with 10 or more blocks apiece. Veronika Kirienko leads the team with 19, Kollmorgan has 16, Matangiroa Flavell has 13 and Marilyn Nzoiwu has 11.
