LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's basketball will look to bounce back from its 68-66 Southland Conference opening loss to Incarnate Word on Wednesday when the Cowgirls will hit the road Saturday for a 1 p.m. tipoff at Northwestern State.
The game will be the first of the next four straight road games for the Cowgirls and it will broadcast live on the McNeese Radio Network (Cajun Radio- 1290/1470 AM) and online at CajunRadio.com. Livestreaming and live stats will be provided as well. All links can be found on mcneesesports.com.
McNeese (2-10, 0-1 SLC) enters the game averaging 60.4 ppg. and 45.1 rebounds per game while the Lady Demons (5-7, 0-1 SLC) enters the game averaging 72.3 ppg. and 32.8 rpg. following their 97-86 SLC opening loss at Nicholls on Wednesday.
The Cowgirls are led in scoring by redshirt freshman
Callie Maddox (13.4 ppg.) and sophomore
Bre'Ashlee Jones (10.3 ppg.). Freshman
Divine Tanks leads the team with 8.3 rpg. while junior
Damilola Balogun is pulling down 7.2 per game. Both Tanks and Balogun are coming off double doubles against UIW. Tanks scored 13 points will 11 rebounds and Balogun scored 10 points and led the Cowgirls with 14 rebounds against the Cardinals.
Northwestern State also has two players averaging in double figures with Kira Bonner leading the way with 12.6 ppg. RaVon Nero is chipping in with 11.8 ppg. Jocelyn Scott leads the Lady Demons with 5.0 rpg.
Northwestern State leads the all-time series 56-29 but the Cowgirls have won the last four meetings including a 60-44 win in Natchitoches last year.
