Cowgirls host ACU on Senior Day on Sunday

| By:

LAKE CHARLES- McNeese Soccer (9-5-0, 5-2-0 SLC) will remain at home for senior day to host Abilene Christian (8-4-0, 4-2-1 SLC) on Sunday afternoon.

Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at Cowgirl Field. The Pokes lead the Wildcats 4-3-1 in the all-time series. The last time the two squads met was in last year's conference tournament when the Wildcats sent home the Cowgirls and went on to win the title.

SENIOR DAY

Be sure to stick around as the four seniors will be honored after Sunday afternoon's matchup. This senior class has made it to the Southland Conference tournament every year so far and have broken multiple program records. One notable record was last year's first 13-win season and this class also has the most wins by any class in McNeese Soccer history with 43.

The four seniors are as follows; Rebecca Adcock from Bryan, Texas; Rachel Palet from Plano, Texas; Alexis Rodriguez also from Plano; and Juna Suppan from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.

SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE

McNeese fell from first place to fourth after Friday's loss to UIW in a very tight Southland Conference race. The Cowgirls are 5-2 on the season and just a game out of first place behind UIW and Lamar, both at 6-1. ACU is 4-2-1 and right behind the Cowgirls in the standings.

PREVIOUS OUTINGS

The Cowgirls are returning after Friday night's loss to UIW. The 2-0 loss to UIW was the second conference loss and the second loss for the Pokes at Cowgirl Field this season. McNeese was unable to get on the board despite holding the Cardinals scoreless in the second half.

The Wildcats are coming off a 6-4 loss to Lamar. Both offenses came to play in the second half as ACU scored two and Lamar scored five. At the half the wildcats were leading 2-1, but were unable to halt the Cardinals last minute efforts as the duo of Ashworth and Okoronkwo both earned a goal in the 88th minute.
