LAKE CHARLES—McNeese volleyball returns home Thursday to host Abilene Christian at 6:30 p.m. at the H&HP Complex in its Southland Conference home opener. McNeese will close out the week with a 11:30 a.m. match Saturday against Stephen F. Austin.
Both matches will be streamed live (subscription) McNeeseSports.com.
McNeese (7-7, 0-2 SLC) are coming off conference road losses at Southeastern Louisiana and Nicholls last weekend. The Cowgirls began conference play with a straight set loss to the Lions before falling in a five setter to the Colonels last Saturday.
ACU (4-8, 2-0 SLC) is one of four teams undefeated in league play heading into the weekend. The Wildcats, picked to finish sixth in the preseason poll, are coming off SLC home wins against Incarnate Word and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last week.
Stephen F. Austin (14-1, 2-0 SLC) was picked to win the conference and has had a year where the Ladyjacks are receiving votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll for the first time in program history.
In the most recent poll, SFA received four votes which ranks them 34th in the nation. SFA will play at Lamar Thursday before Saturday's match against the Cowgirls.
