2019 Soccer Signees

Cowgirl soccer inks two on signing day

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese soccer head coach Drew Fitzgerald announced two signees to its signing class on the first day of National Signing Day – Jenna Bosetti of Vacaville, California and Morgan Schooley of St. Augustine, Florida.

The Cowgirls, fresh off an 11-win season for their third double-digit win season in a row, lost just four seniors from this past season's team that advanced to the Southland Conference Tournament semifinals.

"This class is our smallest by design," said Fitzgerald. "We only graduate four players and want to keep our roster a certain size. We feel great about who we've added. We had a very small list of players that we were interested in this class, and these two were at the top of the list. Both players have the ability to compete for playing time right away and can be difference makers for us and both of them are really good people, which is just as important. We know they will fit right in with our team culture and chemistry."

Jenna Bosetti – Midfielder – Davis Legacy ECNL – Vacacille, CA
Bosetti joins the Cowgirls from her club, Davis Legacy, which competes at the Elite Club National Level (ECNL) – one of the highest club soccer levels in the country. During her time at Davis, her team has claimed the championships in the Las Vegas Players Showcase, and the National Cup Regional League.

In high school at Vacaville High, Bosetti was named scholar-athlete three years in a row and was the team leading scorer as a sophomore. She earned all-league honors as a sophomore and junior and led her team to the Monticello Empire League title. An honor roll member every year in high school, Bosetti is currently the Senior Class Vice President after serving as the student-council secretary her junior year. She has volunteered at Kaiser Permanente Hospital, St Mary's Catholic Church, Wreaths Across America, Toys for Tots and with the Vacaville Youth Soccer League.

She is the daughter of Jason and Jodi Bosetti. Her brother, Tyler, is currently a member of the University of Nevada baseball team.

Fitzgerald on Bosetti:
"Jenna is tireless. She has a great motor and isn't afraid to make the tough tackle. We see her playing in the midfield as a ball winner and distributor, but she also has the potential to slot into a central defender position. Jenna is always smiling off the field, but is fiercely competitive on the field and that's our favorite thing about her. She comes with an edge to the way she plays and we know she'll make a difference for us in the physical matches especially."

Morgan Schooley – Midfielder – Florida Elite Soccer Academy ECNL – St. Augustine, FL
Schooley also joins McNeese from an ECNL team where she stars for Florida Elite Soccer Academy. She was named an ECNL Southeast All-Conference member each of the last two seasons and has consistently been among the leading scorers for her team.

A standout for Pedro Menendez High School, Schooley has been named all-state both her sophomore and junior seasons and has been all-conference and all-county every year of her career. She was a Class 3A District 6 Player of the Year nominee her junior year and received the Falcon Award and offensive MVP.

Schooley was named one of the three leaders for the Athletic Leadership Council and selected to be a student representative for the Advisory Council for Athletic Leadership for the county. She was awarded the American Youth Character Award and is a member of senior women's and best buddies club. She volunteers with a children's ministry and was selected by Leonard's Photography to be an ambassador for the school.

She is the daughter of Joseph and Megann Schooley. Her mother, Megann, was quite the soccer player in her own right, as she was a member of a Division II national championship team during her time at Lynn University and is a member of its Athletic Hall of Fame.

Fitzgerald on Schooley:
"We are excited to add Morgan to our roster. She is a versatile, athletic and dynamic player that we believe will bolster our midfield. Morgan's mother is a coach and it shows in her play. She sees the game well and always seems to make the right decision, but she also brings a little creativity with her. She is composed on the ball and her ability to combine with teammates or create off the dribble sets her apart. She's a great addition to our roster."
