LAKE CHARLES—McNeese volleyball closed out its home schedule Saturday with a 3-1 (25-13, 25-13, 17-25, 25-18) Southland Conference win on Senior Day.
 
The match marked the final home match for seniors Angela McGownd, Haley Schneider, Katelyn Elliott, and Keegan Nelms, who were honored following the match.
 
The win improves McNeese to 11-5 overall and 4-10 in the SLC while Nicholls drops to 11-4 overall and 5-9 in the SLC.
 
McNeese jumped out to a quick two set lead behind solid team play including a .462 hitting percent in the first set where the Cowgirls committed only one hitting error. It was a good hitting match as the Cowgirls ended the match with a .289 percent.
 
For the second consecutive match, Nelms recorded a double double with a match high 18 kills along with 11 digs for her 12^th double double of the year.
 
Nelms was joined in double figures by Alexis Lambert who ended the match with 14 and Regan Stiawalt was credited with 10 kills.
 
McGownd, the Cowgirls' libero for the past four years moved into second place in McNeese career digs by picking up a match high 23.
 
Kendall Kilchrist ended the match with a double double as well for her third of the season. Kilchrist dished out 24 assists and picked up 13 digs. Caitlin Sharrock ended the match with 21 assists.
 
At the net, Lauren Burt and Ajani Hodges both picked up four blocks apiece while Stiawalt had three.
 
McNeese will close out the regular season next week with a Thursday match at Abilene Christian and at Stephen F. Austin on Saturday.
