LAKE CHARLES – McNeese cross country runners Henry Kiplagat and Marta Lukijaniuk were named the Louisiana Men's and Women's Cross Country Newcomers of the Year, respectively, as part of the All-Louisiana Men's and Women's Cross Country teams released by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association on Tuesday.
 
In addition, Kiplagat was voted as one of seven runners on the All-Louisiana Men's Cross Country team while Cowgirl runner Bonnie Andres earned a spot on the women's All-Louisiana squad.
 
Joining Kiplagat on the men's All-Louisiana team were Eric Coston and Davis Bove of LSU, Evans Kipchumba and Tom Coe of Tulane, Kolyn Saltzman of New Orleans, and Samuel Abdellatif of Xavier.
 
Coston was named the state's Runner of the Year while Bove garnered Freshman of the Year honors and Loyola's Bryiana Richardson as Coach of the Year.
 
Joining Andres on the women's seven-member team were UNO's Arina Kleshchukova; Katy-Ann McDonald, Alicia Stamey and Adele Broussard, all of LSU; McKenzie Melius from Tulane and Taylor Price of Xavier.
 
Kleshchukova was voted as Runner of the Year after becoming the first UNO runner to qualify for the NCAA Championships. Broussard was voted as Freshman of the Year, and LSU head coach Houston Franks as Coach of the Year.
 
In his first season at McNeese, Kiplagat earned All-Southland Conference honors after finishing 10^th at the SLC Championships with a time of 24:35.2 to set a new PR in the 8k race. He placed 30^th overall at the NCAA South Central Regional Meet with a time of 31:17.8 in the 10k race and was the fourth-highest finisher from Louisiana in the event.
 
Lukijaniuk, a junior from Wroctaw, Poland, ran a personal best time in a 6k race of 23:09.7 at the Southland Conference Championships to finish 44^th overall. She followed that up with a 24:26.1 mark at the NCAA South Central Regional.
 
Andres was the top Cowgirl finisher at the SLC Championships, finishing 25^th overall. She had a best time in the 6k of 21:36.7 and an 18:13.6 5k best time.
 
Athletes for the All-Louisiana team were nominated and voted on by sports information directors from all four-year schools in the state.
