McNeese hosts KC in inter-regional matchup

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese returns to the hardwood on Tuesday night when it welcomes the Kansas City Roos of the Western Athletic Conference as the Cowboys look to remain perfect at home on the season.
 
Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 at the McNeese H&HP Arena. Kids 12 and under will receive a free kids ticket with a donation to the Toys For Tots campaign.
 
McNeese (3-6) has been off the past week with finals as the fall semester is coming to an end. The Cowboys routed Campbellsville-Harrodsburg 107-61 last Tuesday in their last outing marking the third 100-point game of the season and setting a school record for the most 100-point games through the first nine contests.
 
Kansas City (5-5) dropped a 79-61 game to Iowa State in its last outing back on Dec. 4.
 
The Roos are led in scoring by Javan White's 12.2 average, the only double-figure scorer on a team that's averaging 70.0 points per game but only allowing 63.7 points scored against them.
 
McNeese has three players averaging double-digits on the season – Sha'Markus Kennedy (17.1), Dru Kuxhausen (15.8), and A.J. Lawson (13.1).
 
As a team, McNeese is ranked 28th in the nation by scoring 81.1 points per game and is seventh in the NCAA in shooting, hitting 51 percent of its shots.

• With its third 100-point game of the season after a 107-61 win over Campbellsville-Harrodsburg last Tuesday, McNeese set a school record for the most 100-point games through the first nine contests of the season.
• The 107 points scored was the most since scoring 108 vs. Loyola-New Orleans back in the 2001-02 season and tied as the 7th-most points scored in a game in school history.
• McNeese is 43-1 all-time when scoring 100 points or more in a game.
 
SERIES VS. KANSAS CITY
• Tuesday's game will be just the second meeting between McNeese and Kansas City with the Roos  having won the only other meeting by an 80-67 score last season in the first-ever meeting.
• In that game, McNeese got a double-double from Roydell Brown (10 points, 11 rebounds) while Sha'Markus Kennedy added 14 points on 7 of 8 shooting.
• KC's Rob Whitfield led the Roos with 19 points while Jordan Giles added 12.

KUXHAUSEN KEEPS FIRING AWAY
• Junior transfer guard Dru Kuxhausen has found his way back to the top of the national rankings in three-point shooting, ranking No. 1 in both 3FG made (40) and three-pointers made per game (4.44).
• He's also ranked 9th in the NCAA in 3FG percentage at 50.6 percent after having hit 40 of 79 from long range on the season.
• In home games only, Kuxhausen has drained 18 of 32 from behind the arc for 56 percent and is averaging 20 points per game in three home contests.
• He's connected on 27 of 53 from 3-point range the last three games and averaging 5.4 threes made per game during that span.
