Box Score LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese women's tennis team opened up Southland Conference play on Friday with a 7-0 victory over Incarnate Word.

The victory extends McNeese's (6-4) win streak to five matches and drops UIW (4-5) under .500 on the year.

In doubles action, Carlotta Romito and Charoline Erlandsson would defeat the UIW duo of Victoria Kareh and Brandelyn Fulgenzi 6-2 at doubles No. 1.

At doubles No. 3, Marija Mastilovic and Stella Carra would take care of business and defeat Alejandra Landaluce and Alejandra Tamayo to give the Cowgirls the doubles point.

McNeese's Giovann Fioretti and Dalia Ahmed would have their match go finished against Jelena Dordan and Sara Djurdjevic while tied up at four points apiece.

In singles action the Cowgirls would not drop a single set to Cardinals.

At singles No. 1, Fioretti would take down Dordan 6-4, 6-3.

Erlandsson would defeat Kareh by a score of 6-2 in consecutive sets.

At singles No. 3, Mastilovic would go on to defeat Djurdjevic 6-3, 6-1.

It the closest match of the day, Romito would defeat Landaluce in two tie-breaking sets 7-5, 7-5.

McNeese's Sofia San Jose Moreno would dominate Tamayo by a score of 6-1, 6-1.

In the No. 6 position, Ahmed would go on to defeat UIW's Taylor Parkinson 6-4, 6-2.

The Cowgirls will continue conference play on Sunday (Mar. 3) when they will host Abilene Christian at 10 a.m.
