Box Score LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese women's tennis team ended its weekend trip to Texas with a 4-3 loss to Lamar on Sunday.

The Cowgirls (6-6, 1-2 SLC) lost the doubles point to Lamar (4-9, 1-2 SLC) to start the day.

At doubles No. 2, McNeese's Marija Mastilovic and Stella Carra fell to Lamar's Natalia Molina and Bianca Vitale 6-3.

Next to finish, at doubles No. 1, Cowgirls Carlotta Romito and Charoline Erlandsson would drop their match to Jasmin Butcha and Amelie Vossgaetter 6-3, securing the point for Lamar.

Sofia San Jose Moreno and Charlotte Ziegler had their match against Sanja Jolic and Laura Sola Grau go unfinished.

In singles action, Lamar would take a quick 2-0 lead as Vitale would defeat McNeese's Giovanna Fioretti 6-3, 6-4.

At singles No. 4, Romito would get the Cowgirls on the board with a 6-2, 6-4 sweep of Molina.

Next to finish, Mastilovic would sweep Jolic 7-5, 6-3 at singles No. 3 to tie things up at two points apiece.

At singles No. 6, Grau would take the lead back for Lamar with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 victory over Carra.

Vossgaetter would secure the match for the Lady Cardinals at singles No. 5 with an 0-6, 6-4, 6-4 three-set victory over McNeese's Ziegler.

Last to finish on the day, at singles No. 1, Erlandsson would go on to sweep Buchta 7-6, 6-4 to give the Cowgirls their third point of the day.

The Cowgirls road stretch will continue on Saturday, Mar. 16, when they visit Southeastern at 12 p.m.
