Cowboys Take on Tulane in Midweek Action

LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese Cowboys baseball team will play its last road game of a four-game road stretch on Tuesday in New Orleans against the Tulane Green Wave. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and Cowboy fans can watch the game live via Tulane's live stream, follow the game's live stats or listen to the game on KEZM 1310 AM or online at KEZMonline.com.
 
This will be the 44th meeting between the Green Wave and the Cowboys with Tulane leading the all-time series 31-12 and having won eight-straight match-ups.
 
McNeese last beat Tulane on April 27, 1994 by way of an 8-4 victory in New Orleans.
 
Head coach Justin Hill is expected to pitch by committee in the only mid-week game this week as the Cowboys get ready for their Southland Conference opener this weekend when they host Lamar.

QUICK HITS
• McNeese enters the weekend series winning seven of their last ten and a 10-6 record. The Cowboys defeated UL-Monroe in a three-game series the last time out (W 13-12, L 5-10, and W 10-2).
• Senior center fielder Shane Selman leads the Cowboys offensively with a .384 batting average after going 6-for-14 from the plate including two doubles, five RBI's, five runs, and a stolen base in the series. He leads the team in doubles and triples with eight and two, has one home run, and 19 RBI's.
• Six of the nine starters in the McNeese batting lineup have a batting average of above .300 including, Clayton Rasbeary, Nate Fisbeck, Carson Maxwell, Jake Dickerson, and Reid Bourque.
• On the mound, junior right-handed pitcher Jonathan Ellison leads the team with a 1.26 ERA in five appearances. In this past week he's made two appearances, pitched 11.1 innings, allowed only three hits, struck out 10 batters, and picked up a win and a save.
• McNeese is batting .306 as a team and has a 5.70 ERA, compared to opponents' .247 average and 7.61 ERA.
 
ON THE OPPONENTS
• The Green Wave enter Tuesday's game with a 10-6 record like the Cowboys. Most recently, Tulane was swept in a three-game weekend series against UC-Santa Barbara at home, 4-7, 7-8 and 6-16.
• This will be their sixth home game in a 12-game home stretch.
 
 
ON DECK
Following the Tulane game, the Cowboys will be back at Joe Miller Ballpark for a seven-game home stretch against Lamar, Houston, and Incarnate Word. The Lamar Cardinals will be the opening of conference play for the Cowboys on March 15-17.
