LAKE CHARLES-- McNeese softball, coming off a 5-4, 11 inning win at ninth ranked UL-Lafayette on Wednesday, will return to Southland Conference action this weekend to host league leading Northwestern State in a three-game series. The series will begin with a 6 p.m. game Friday and will conclude with a noon doubleheader Saturday.

McNeese (13-17, 4-2 SLC) will look to get back on track in conference action after dropping its series at Stephen F. Austin last weekend.

Justyce McClain and junior
Cori McCrary continue to lead the Cowgirls at the plate with a .381 and .322 batting average. McClain also leads the team with 37 hits, 19 runs and is second on the team with 12 stolen bases. McCrary leads with 17 RBI, three home runs, 14 stolen bases and is second on the team with 29 hits and 14 runs.
Junior
Brenique Wright leads the Cowgirls with 15 walks and is second on the team with 11 RBI along with two home runs. Sophomore
Demi Boudreaux leads the team with eight doubles.

Saleen Flores has the lowest ERA (1.47) and enters the weekend 0-3 in 38.0 innings.

Caroline Settle, who picked up the win against UL-Lafayette is 4-5 with a 3.24 ERA.
Northwestern State (13-14, 5-1 SLC) comes into the weekend tied for first place in the SLC with Lamar. The Lady Demons are coming off an 11-3 home loss to Louisiana Tech on Wednesday. NW State opened SLC play with a 6-0 loss at Sam Houston State but has won the last five conference games including two against Sam Houston State and a series sweep over Abilene Christian last weekend.
The Lady Demons have three players batting over .300 with Cayla Jones leading the way with a .333 average, 25 hits, four home runs, 13 RBI, and 18 walks. E.C. Delafield has a .326 average with 10 RBI and Hayley Barbazon is batting .306 with a team high 26 hits and five doubles.
Mikayla Brown (3-3) leads the pitching staff with a 2.15 ERA in 39.0 innings. Delafield (2-1) has a 2.96 ERA, Samantha Guile (3-6) has a 3.39 ERA and leads the staff with 53.2 innings and 40 strikeouts. Bronte Rhoden (5-3) has a 3.43 ERA in 53.0 innings.
