NORMAN, Okla.— McNeese softball ended its five day stay in Oklahoma with a respectable 6-1 loss at No. 3 Oklahoma Tuesday afternoon.
The potent OU (16-2) offense took a 4-0 lead in the third inning then added two more runs in the sixth to extend the lead to 6-1. Four of the Sooners six runs came via two, two-run home runs.
McNeese (8-13) avoided the shutout from a
Brenique Wright's solo home run in the fifth inning. For the native of Moore, Oklahoma, it's her first home run of the season.

Aubree Turbeville, and pinch hitter
Amy Reed picking up hits.
•- McNeese used two pitchers,
Amber Coons and
Ashley Koncir. Coons (2-1) was credited with the loss despite giving up four hits and four unearned runs in 3.0 innings. Koncir pitched the final three innings, gave up three hits, two earned runs and picked up one strikeout.
•- OU used four pitchers with Shannon Saile (3-1) picking up the win, allowing one hit in 4.0 innings.
ON DECK
•- McNeese will return home for its next five games including its Southland Conference opening series against Incarnate Word this Friday and Saturday. The series will begin with a 5 p.m. doubleheader on Friday, March 8.
