LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese women's tennis team will continue conference play over the weekend with matchups against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday and Lamar on Sunday.

The Cowgirls (6-4, 1-0 SLC) began conference play on a high note with a 7-0 sweep of Incarnate Word. The Cowgirls match against Abilene Christian was postponed due to weather and will be played at a later date.

TAMUCC (6-3, 0-1 SLC) joined McNeese as Southland Conference regular season co-champions in 2018 and were a No. 2 seed in last year's conference tournament.

The Islanders opened up conference play with a close 4-3 loss to Northwester St.

Lamar (3-8, 0-1 SLC) dropped its opening conference match to Central Arkansas 5-2 before having their second scheduled match, against Northwester St, postponed. The Lady Cardinals will host Southeaster on Friday in a conference matchup before hosting the Cowgirls on Sunday.
