SB: McNeese completes series sweep over Incarnate Word, Piancastelli Jersey Retired

LAKE CHARLES— McNeese softball completed its Southland Conference opening series sweep with a 1-0 win over Incarnate Word Saturday to improve to 11-13 overall and 3-0 in league play. The loss dropped UIW to 2-18 on the year and 0-3 in the SLC.

"Obviously any time you can come away with a wins in conference, you are happy for your team," said head coach James Landreneau. "Big picture wise, for this team to progress and get better- we pitched really well on Friday and did a pretty good job at the plate of getting some runs in and squaring up ball. The story right now is we are still leaving people on base, we have to do a better job of getting runners in."

McNeese will conclude its five game home stand against Baylor with single games next Tuesday and Wednesday.

"For the week coming up, we need to work on making adjustments at the plate and continue to improve on our swings. Tuesday and Wednesday we will play a tough Baylor team that has great tradition, they are consistently a powerhouse who is always ranked. We need to fixed some things internally before we focus on Baylor then we have a big conference series at SFA on the weekend," Landreneau said.
