WTEN: Cowgirls Host SHSU on Senior Day

| By:
LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese women's tennis team will look to clinch a spot in the Southland Conference Tournament on Sunday when they face-off against Sam Houston St. at 1 p.m.

The Cowgirls (10-8, 5-4 SLC) need a win or a Lamar loss in order to clinch a spot in the SLC tournament. The Bearkats (13-6, 7-3 SLC) have already clinched a spot in the tournament.

Roughly 15 minutes prior to the start of the match seniors Giovanna Fioretti and Charoline Erlandsson will be honored for senior day. The Cowgirl duo was crucial in lifting McNeese to its first ever Southland Conference regular season and tournament champion as well as the programs first ever trip to the NCAA tournament.

Fioretti has played a major role in McNeese's success since taking the court as a freshman. In 2016 Fioretti was named the Southland Conference freshman of the year.

Erlandsson is nearing her best season of her collegiate career where she has a posted a 16-2 mark in singles play and became the first Cowgirl ever to rank in the ITA top 125 where she came in at 119.

Following the match on Sunday the Cowgirls will close out the regular season on April 20th when they travel to Tyler, Texas to take on Abilene Christian in a match that was postponed earlier this season.
