LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese women's tennis team will close out its 2019 regular season campaign on Saturday when they face-off against Abilene Christian in Tyler, Texas.
This match was originally scheduled to be played earlier in the season but was postponed due to weather.
The Cowgirls (11-8, 6-4 SLC) have been hot as of late, winning their last four matches to improve to 6-4 in conference play after a 2-4 start.
ACU (13-9, 9-1 SLC) is coming off a loss to Central Arkansas which snapped the Wildcats nine match conference winning streak. The Wildcats currently lead the Southland Conference and will be looking to secure the Southland Conference regular season championship with a win.
"We don't care that they are the best team in the conference right now," said McNeese head coach
Giorgia Pozzan. "We are just going to take the opportunity to work on some things that we have started to do this week and then implement it in the match. We see it as an opportunity to compete doing the right things."
Following the regular season finale, the Cowgirls will open up SLC Tournament play on April 26 as a four, five, or six seed depending on the outcome of matches around the league this weekend.
