MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa.—McNeese split its matches Saturday on the final day of the Robert Morris defeating Manhattan 3-1 (24-26, 25-22, 25-17, 25-14) to improve to 2-0 on the year. The Cowgirls ended tournament action with a 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 19-25, 16-25) loss to host Robert Morris.
"Credit to Manhattan, they really controlled the errors on their side of the net and made us earn our points, especially in sets one and two," said head coach
Ashleigh Fitzgerald. "Our serving was a struggle early in the match, but I thought our middle attacking made some progress in this morning's match."
Senior
Keegan Nelms and sophomore
Kendall Glueck were named to the all-tournament team.
In the Manhattan match,
Regan Stiawalt led McNeese with 19 kills. Nelms recorded her second double double in as many matches with 10 kills and 12 digs. Glueck also recorded double figure kills with 10.
Kendall Kilchrist and
Callie Craus both ended the match with double figure assist with Kilchrist leading the way with 22 and Craus pitching in with 19.
Angela McGownd picked up a match high 27 digs.
In the match against RMU, Nelms continued her double double streak with 11 kills and 11 digs. Stiawalt also picked up a double double with 12 kills and 10 digs. Kilchrist and Craus picked up 17 and 14 assists, respectively. McGownd recorded her second match with 20 or more digs, ending the game with 24.
The Cowgirls (2-1) will return to action next Tuesday to host Houston in its home opener and first match in the new H&HP Complex. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m.
