LAKE CHARLES- The McNeese soccer team (3-3-0) will play its fourth road game of the 2019 season Sunday afternoon at Texas State (4-2-1) at 1 p.m. at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.

This will be the 29th time in program history that the two squads have met. The all-time series is 10-17-1, with the Bobcats in the lead. The Pokes have come out on top in the last five matchups.

The Cowgirls are searching for their first road of the season. However, the Pokes remained undefeated at home with a 2-0 win Friday night over Jackson State. Both goals came in the second half from Anna Watson and Delana Friesen.

The Bobcats are coming off a 1-0 loss against Southland Conference foe, Northwestern State (2-5-0). The Lady Demons and the Bobcats combined for only 12 shots. Both defenses battled it out and Northwestern State came out on top.

Junior midfielder Anna Watson leads the Cowgirls with four goals, she is followed by Havana Johnson and Delana Friesen who have both scored twice. Watson and Friesen lead the team with 12 shots. Eight of Watson's shots and six of Friesen's were put on goal.

QUOTING HEAD COACH DREW FITZGERALD
"It's been a nearly annual tradition to play Texas State, even after they left the Southland conference.  It's a game our players are always excited to play.   We get a few injured players back for minutes this match so hopefully the excitement of nearing full strength for the first time is enough to help us secure a road win."
