McNeese opens up conference play against Southeastern at home.

| By:
LAKE CHARLES- The McNeese Soccer team (4-3-0) will return home to Cowgirl Field on Sunday at 5 p.m. to face Southeastern Louisiana (1-5-1) to open Southland Conference play.

The match was originally scheduled for Friday night but due to consistent rain in the Lake Charles area the game was pushed back to Sunday to allow Cowgirl Field to dry.

The Pokes are returning home after a win over Texas State last Sunday. Anna Watson netted the game winning goal in the 80th minute to pick up her fifth goal of the season. Watson also is currently tied for first in game winning goals throughout the NCAA.

Also in Sunday's match, junior goalkeeper Emma Roccaforte returned to the action after missing the previous six games to an injury. Roccaforte recorded eight saves and held a shutout in her return to the pitch.

Southeastern is opening up conference play after dropping a pair of road matches last weekend to 11th ranked Memphis (7-1-0) and Little Rock (3-4-2). SLU is led by freshman Ellie Williams with two goals on the season.

After Sunday's game, the Cowgirls will travel to Central Arkansas next Friday to continue conference play.

QUOTING HEAD COACH DREW FITZGERALD
"The first day of conference play was really interesting. Seems like it's anyone's league this year and that includes Southeastern.  Their record is that way because they've taken on challenges to prepare them for the season. We expect a very good opponent on Sunday."
