VB: Cowgirls Travel To Monroe For Sunday Match

LAKE CHARLES--  McNeese women's volleyball will make a return trip to Monroe on Sunday to face Louisiana-Monroe in a 1 p.m. match. It will be the home opener for the Warhawks who fell to the Cowgirls in straight sets on Friday at the Cowgirl Round Robin.
 
For McNeese (7-4), who is on a four-match winning streak, it will be the final tune-up match before the Southland Conference opener at Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday, Sept. 26.
 
Head coach Ashleigh Fitzgerald and her staff have been able to play several players in the past couple of matches to see what combination best fits the Cowgirls strategy.
 
Alexis Lambert and Keegan Nelms will lead the Cowgirls into Sunday's match with 83 and 82 kills, respectively.
 
Allison Lippert continues to lead the team in blocks with 40 for an average of 1.05 per set while Angela McGownd continues to solidify the back row with 225 digs for an average of 5.49 per set. Setter Caitlin Sharrock has dished out 208 assists for an average of 6.71 per set.
 
As a team, McNeese leads the SLC with 2.15 service aces per set and is holding its opponents to a .147 hitting average and ranks third in the SLC with 2.04 blocks per set.
