McNeese Scoccer Travels to Louisiana Tech for First Game of the Weekend

LAKE CHARLES- The McNeese soccer team (2-1-0) will play its second away game of the 2019 season Friday night against undefeated Louisiana Tech. (6-0-0) at 7 p.m. at Ruston High School.
 
This will be the ninth time in program history that the two squads have met. The all-time series is set at an even 4-4. The Pokes have come out on top in every game at home, except for the most recent match in 2017 when McNeese dropped a 1-0 decision. The Cowgirls only win on the road came in 2016 when McNeese topped Tech by a 2-1 score.
 
The Lady Techsters are coming off a 3-1 victory against Southland Conference foe, Northwestern State (0-4-0), in a game that saw LTU sophomore Autumn Woodard set a school record by scoring in her fifth straight game. 
 
The Cowgirls played in two games this past weekend.l, falling Friday night to the 24th ranked LSU Tigers 1-0 then picked up their second win of the season on Sunday with a 3-0 victory over Prairie View A&M.
 
Two McNeese Cowgirls earned their first Southland Conference Player of the Week honors following their performances last weekend. Freshman goalkeeper Kelly Hines earned Goalkeeper of the Week honors while junior defender Keely Morrow was named Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Hines, a true freshman of Cypress, Texas, totaled 9 saves during her 135 minutes on the week and recorded a save percentage of .818, ranking her second in the conference in that department.
 
Morrow, a native of Nevada, Texas, is one of the top defenders on a team that has allowed just two goals in three games this season. McNeese is currently ranked tied for second in the conference for goals allowed with two, and is third in the conference with a .667 goals against average. On the season, Morrow tops the team with 250 minutes played.
