McNeese Soccer Set to Play Arkansas Sunday on ESPN+

| By:

LAKE CHARLES- McNeese women's soccer team (2-2-0) is set to play its second road game of the weekend Sunday afternoon the University Arkansas (3-1-1). Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+ from Razorback Field in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

The game will only be the second time the two squads have met on the pitch. The Cowgirls lead the series after a 3-2 double overtime win last year in Lake Charles. Havana Johnson netted the game winning goal with only three minutes remaining in the second overtime.

This will be the Pokes 16th game against an SEC school in program history, it will also be the second matchup of the season with a team from the Power 5 conference. Two weeks ago, the Cowgirls dropped a 1-0 decision at LSU.

The Razorbacks are coming off a 7-0 win over Southland Conference foe, Lamar. In the win Arkansas outshout the Cardinals 28-0. The Razorbacks suffered their only setback against Big XII powerhouse Oklahoma on Aug. 25.

The Pokes are coming off 3-2 double overtime loss at Louisiana Tech on Friday night. The Cowgirls led the Lady Techsters 1-0 at the half and went goal for goal in the second half. La. Tech came out on top in a double overtime golden goal and handed McNeese its second loss of the season.

QUOTING HEAD COACH DREW FITZGERALD:
"We are excited about the opportunity to play a team like Arkansas. The kind of pressure they bring and their ability to create opportunities is second to none and will definitely help prepare us for conference play. Both teams are different than last year's so other than them wanting a bit of revenge I don't think last year's match has any bearing on this year's game."
