Box Score WACO – The McNeese Cowgirls closed out their season-opening weekend in Waco with a 7-0 loss to Baylor on Monday at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.

"Obviously we knew that today was going to be a really tough challenge and that's exactly what we got from Baylor," said head coach Giorgia Pozzan.
 
Cowgirl newcomer Matilde Mulatero, who posted two wins on Sunday against Georgia State, put up another battle on Monday in both singles and doubles action.
 
She teamed with Sofia San Jose Moreno to drop a 6-2 doubles match and in the No. 4 singles action, fell 6-4, 6-1 against Baylor's Kris Sorokolet. Her four points won in the first set were the most by a Cowgirl individual on the day.
 
Marija Mastilovic and Hanna Blinouskaya fell 6-4 in the No. 1 doubles post to Jessica Hinojosa and Herroro Linana as Baylor clinched the doubles points.

"I was extremely happy with our doubles," said Pozzan. "We went toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in the country and we only lost buy a matter of few points. I'm also very proud of the fight our team, once again down a player, we refused to let Baylor take the win. We put up a great fight, but I think we didn't have enough belief today." 
 
McNeese (0-2) fielded just five players for the second straight day and dropped a doubles and singles point, spotting the Bears (2-0) two quick points.

"The tennis is getting better and it will continue to get better so I am excited to see where this team can go. Now time to regroup and get ready for a double header in Ruston."
 
The Cowgirls will be back in action on Sunday when they visit Louisiana Tech at 10:30 and will then play Grambling at LTU later in the day.
