Box Score HOUSTON – McNeese opened up its two-matches in two-days streak on Friday with a 7-0 loss to Houston here at the Winston Tennis Facility.
 
The Cowgirls (1-4), playing one player short, lost the doubles point 6-0, 6-1, but played competitively singles action before dropping those points.
 
Carlotta Romino battled tough against Houston's Sophie Gerits in the No. 2 singles, dropping the first set 7-5 before falling 6-1 in the second in the final match to finish on the day.
 
In another close contest, McNeese's Sofia San Jose Moren fell to Azul Pedemonti in No. 3 action by a score of 6-3, 6-4 while in No. 1 singles, the Cowgirls' Marija Mastilovic fell 6-2, 6-3 to Mim Kendall-Woseley.
 
Houston improved to 1-1 on the year after the win.
 
The Cowgirls will continue action on Saturday when they visit SMU at 5:30 then will open up home play next Sunday, Feb. 9 against Tyler Junior College.
