LAKE CHARLES – McNeese's longest running rivalry series will renew on Saturday night when the Cowboys visit Louisiana-Lafayette in a game that was added to the schedule earlier this week after both teams had contests canceled due to the COVID-19 virus.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Lafayette Cajundome. The game will broadcast live on the McNeese Radio Network (Magic 92.1 FM and mymagiclc.com) and also on ESPN+.
The Cowboys (4-2) have won three straight games and are coming off a 114-50 win over Arlington Baptist on Tuesday, 24 hours after beating that same ABU squad by a 110-64 margin.
ULL (5-1) defeated Southland Conference foe New Orleans by a 73-63 score on Tuesday in its last outing.
Saturday's game will be the final one for McNeese until after the Christmas holiday. McNeese will host Champion Christian College on back-to-back nights December 29 and 30 before opening up league play on January 2 at home against Central Arkansas.
THE SERIES:
Saturday's game will be the 96
th meeting in a series that dates back to the 1951 season. ULL holds a 60-35 lead and has won the last five matchups, including last year by an 85-80 in Lafayette. McNeese's last win over the Cajuns was back on Dec. 6, 2014 by an 80-70 score in Lake Charles. The Cowboys have not won in Lafayette since Dec. 13, 2007 by way of a 67-61 score.

The Cowboys lead the conference and are ranked second in the NCAA with a 98.5 scoring average per game and are first in the SLC and fifth nationally with a 33.2 scoring margin.
McNeese is ranked No. 1 in the league in 14 statistical categories while individually, four Cowboy players lead the conference in 11 different categories.
INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS:
Feazell leads the league and is ranked No. 3 in the nation with 13.2 rebounds per game. He's also No. 1 in the conference in total rebounds (79), defensive rebounds per game (9.7), offensive rebounds per game (3.5) and double-doubles (4).
Bush, a true freshman, tops the conference in assists per game (5.8) and total assists (29).
Kuxhausen leads the conference and is fourth nationally with 28 total 3s made; first in the SLC and fifth in NCAA with 4.7 three-pointers made per game; and No. 1 in the league and sixth nationally with 64 threes attempted.
Orlina leads the league and is 33
rd nationally with a 4.2 assist-to-turnover ratio.
RECORD WATCH:
With 28 three-pointers made on the season, Kuxhausen has now made 153 in his McNeese career, ranking him No. 7 on the school's career made list, trailing Michael Cutright (154) and Damon Wordlaw (157) to get into the top five.
