COLLEGE STATION – McNeese's Carlotta Romito and Matilde Mulatero put up tough fights in their singles matches on Friday night but the 20^th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies were too much to overcome as the Cowgirls dropped a 7-0 decision in women's tennis action.
 
Romito, playing in the No. 2 singles match and Mulatero at No. 4, were the last two matches to finish up. Romito dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision to Jayci Goldsmith while Mulatero lost by the same score to Renee McBryde.
 
The loss dropped the Cowgirls to 1-6 on the season while Texas A&M improved to 8-2.
 
McNeese was playing short-handed with just five players so they had to forfeit one doubles and one singles point each.
 
The Cowgirls will return to action on Tuesday when they host Louisiana-Lafayette at 3 p.m. to open up their home schedule.
